Blood for trade
17th April 2003
Now that Gulf War II is all but complete, the anti-war nations are lining up to provide free aid. Why? Because aid leads to more permanent lucrative trade deals, and the idealistic anti-war campaigners marching in the streets cannot see past “blood for oil” to “blood for trade”. The French and Germans, both whose history of weapons of mass destruction are clearly on record, now have their regime change, their citizens’ respect, and their global trade deals. No wonder French is still the language of diplomacy.
